Name of Project:
Restoration of Intertidal Marsh and Estuarine Habitat in West McAllis Point, Galveston County, Texas CEPRA Project # 1481

Location of Project: Galveston, Texas
Owner: Texas General Land Office
Date of Completion: 12/2010

General Scope of Construction Project:
APOLLO® was contracted to implement this wetland restoration project which included the following activities: Dredging approximately 132,000 cy of sand from West McAllis Point to create approximately 105 acres of intertidal estuarine habitats consisting of salt flat marsh, salt flat, intertidal marsh, and protected shallow water habitat in two areas in West Bay, Galveston County. The dredged material is used to create mound habitat features and other placement configurations filled above intertidal levels to allow for the migration of marsh in response to anticipated rising sea level. APOLLO also performed pre-dredge surveys, hazard surveys, interim and final surveys for the quality control of the project.
